TRANS AWARENESS WEEK 2025

While we don’t know yet what will happen, concerns that federal protections and rights that currently exist for transgender people may be eroded or federal legislation and policies that are harmful to trans people being implemented are valid.
Colorado has several laws and policies to protect the rights of trans individuals, particularly in the areas of employment, housing, public accommodations, and healthcare. These protections often include references to "gender identity" and "gender expression" and are reinforced through various state and local policies.

GENDER SUPPORT GROUP
Our Gender Support Group is one of the longest-standing programs at RMEQ. This group offers peer-support for transgender and gender expansive identities including transgender, genderqueer, gender fluid, agender, non-binary, and intersex people; those who are questioning their gender are also invited to attend.
Peer-support groups serve as a source of understanding, strength, and reflection for many community members, but they are not therapy. Each group is facilitated by a minimum of two facilitators, who must complete annual facilitation trainings, including diversity and inclusion training.
Attending the group is free and we have trained, dedicated transgender facilitators. All we ask is that you fill out a quick survey when you first come and follow our Support Group Agreements. This group is for individuals who are ages 18+.

For your first session, allies and partners may attend with you. After that, only gender expansive people should attend as this space is curated for them to find community with each other. Partners may attend our Supporting Partners of Trans and Gender Expansive People Group on an ongoing basis.
DETAILS:
Every Thursday (in person), 7pm - 9pm MT
Equality Center of the Rocky Mountains: 3340 Mitchell Ln, Boulder, CO 80301
We also offer a hybrid option. Contact Theo (he/they) at theodore@rmequality.org for details.
Masks are optional, and vaccination is strongly encouraged.

This support group is a drop-in style group for people in relationship or partnership with transgender and gender expansive people. While the support group is not a therapy process group, it may be therapeutic.
Each group member will have an opportunity to share, connect with others, and explore their relationships/partnerships with transgender and gender expansive people. The trained group facilitators create space to acknowledge and meet each member as they are while also providing evidence-based knowledge about transgender and gender expansive people that promote mental health for all.

RMEQ is actively establishing the Colorado Trans Advocacy Committee. The Colorado Trans Advocacy Committee (CTAC) provides guidance, insight, and leadership to help RMEQ advocate for transgender Coloradans and their families.

CTAC informs RMEQ’s positions, statements, and advocacy priorities, and engages in legislative testimony, public education, and community outreach. CTAC membership includes experienced volunteers who identify transgender, non-binary, Two-Spirit, intersex, and/or gender expansive.
