In the past five years, we have grown in terms of geographic reach, diversity, and amount of programs and services we offer, and staff size which led us to rebrand from Out Boulder County to Rocky Mountain Equality. Now our LGBTQ+ communities face the threat of rising violence, coordinated political attacks on our rights, and an incoming presidential administration that is focused on erasing the protections and freedoms we have secured. Rocky Mountain Equality (RMEQ) is doing what we have always done since our founding as Boulder Pride 30 years ago – evolving to meet the moment.
We want to share with the community that we are strengthening our leadership structure by adding a new director who will oversee our programs and services, as well as updating our two executive leadership positions to allow for increased focus and to reflect the current state of the organization. By aligning leadership roles with our strategic needs, we are positioned to address the increasing complexity of our work, ensuring both internal and external priorities are met as we continue to advance equality and support our community.
Mardi Moore (she) has assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Mardi has been the Executive Director of the organization for more than a decade and has responded to community needs, growing and strengthening this organization. As CEO, Mardi will focus on policy and advocacy, fighting to protect our community and gaining additional ground in our struggle for equality. She will set strategic priorities and guide the organization in our efforts to fulfill our mission.
Bruce Parker (he) has assumed the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO). Bruce has served as Deputy Director for three years and has overseen our geographic expansion and the addition of new programs and services while also serving as key leader with Mardi on advocacy and legislative accomplishments. He will oversee internal operations, including communications, staff development, and programs and services delivery. His work will ensure operational excellence while fostering an inclusive workplace, and maintaining programs and services that are responsive to community needs.
Tamora Tanniehill (she) has assumed the role of Director of Programs and Services. While serving as the Director of Behavioral Health and Wellness, Tamora significantly increased the number of people served, expanded the geographic reach of services, and grew the diversity of events and activities offered. In her new role, she will supervise the programs and services team while leading program development, delivery, and assessment.
With these changes and our commitment to serving our community, the entire team at RMEQ continues to fight for, support, and strengthen LGBTQ+ people, families, and communities across Colorado.
